Open billing

Find plan, invoice, payment method, seat, storage, and billing settings for a workspace.

Billing is workspace-owned

Billing belongs to a workspace, not to a personal profile. The plan, seats, payment method, invoices, storage add-ons, and AI credit purchases apply to the workspace you are viewing. If you belong to more than one workspace, switch to the correct workspace before changing anything.

Profile settings are for your personal account. Billing is for the workspace. That split matters: changing your display name will not update an invoice, and changing the workspace plan will not fix a personal sign-in problem.

Open the billing page

In the workspace you want to manage, open Workspace Settings, then choose Billing. If you use the desktop app, billing opens inside ALLO the same way web settings do. If a payment processor page opens during checkout or payment recovery, follow the secure payment prompts and return to ALLO afterward.

You can also use the direct Billing route from the app: /billing. It opens the Billing tab for the current workspace context. If you belong to several workspaces, switch to the intended workspace first, then open Billing so you do not review or change the wrong subscription.

If you do not see Billing, you are probably not an admin for that workspace, you are in the wrong workspace, or your current surface does not expose billing. Ask a workspace admin to open Billing, or use When you can't access work if the workspace itself is missing.

ALLO may also show a top workspace banner when billing needs attention. The banner can point to a failed payment, over-seat state, storage limit, or trial status. If more than one issue exists, ALLO shows the highest-priority banner first so the workspace can recover the most urgent problem.

Some Billing actions stay inside ALLO. Others open a secure checkout, billing portal, payment verification, or Contact Sales path.

After you complete an action outside the workspace:

  1. Return to ALLO.
  2. Refresh Billing if the plan, seat limit, storage quota, payment state, or AI credit balance still looks old.
  3. Wait a few minutes before treating the state as stuck. Payment processor confirmation, webhooks, and workspace usage totals can take time to settle.

Admin and non-admin behavior

Admins can usually open Billing and take action. Non-admins may see a limited message, a usage page, or no billing entry at all. That is intentional. Payment methods, invoices, plan changes, and paid add-ons should not be editable by everyone in a workspace.

If you are not an admin and you see a payment, seat, storage, or AI credit warning, send the admin the workspace name, the exact warning text, and a link to the affected page. If your work is blocked by storage or permissions, include the file, canvas, or dashboard link too.

Custom contracts

Most paid workspaces can manage plan, seat, storage, and payment changes directly from Billing. A smaller set of large enterprise, campus, government, university, institution, lab, or education workspaces uses custom contracts. In those workspaces, Billing may show Contact Sales instead of checkout. That does not mean the workspace is malfunctioning. It means the billing contract needs a human-managed change.

If you see Contact Sales, use that path instead of forcing a checkout from another page. If the workspace also has a failed payment or access problem, contact support with the workspace name and the banner or invoice message.

Free workspaces

Free workspaces can still have billing-related pages because they may upgrade, buy AI credit packs, or need to understand storage and seat limits. A Free workspace admin can review upgrade options and, when available, buy one-time AI credit packs without starting a paid subscription.

Free workspaces do not have the same included storage, AI credits, or seat capacity as paid plans. If a Free workspace hits a limit, the recovery path is usually upgrade, reduce usage, or ask an admin to manage members or files.

Trials, cancellations, and failed payments

Billing can show more than one state:

StateWhat it usually meansWhat to do
TrialThe workspace is trying a paid plan for a limited timeReview the trial end date and decide whether to continue.
Scheduled cancellationThe plan is set to end laterRestart or change the plan before the end date if the team should keep paid access.
Failed paymentThe latest payment could not be collectedUpdate the payment method or pay the open invoice.
Over seatsThe workspace has more members than the paid seat countAdd seats or remove/deactivate members.
Over storageStored ALLO files exceed the workspace quotaBuy storage, delete files, or upgrade.

For payment recovery, use Fix a payment issue. For seat warnings, use Manage seat limits. For storage warnings, use Fix storage limits.

Billing in desktop and mobile

The desktop app can open workspace billing because it runs the full ALLO workspace experience. If checkout or sign-in requires a browser step, your system browser may open and then return you to the app. If that return fails, see Sign in to the desktop app and Troubleshoot the desktop app.

The native mobile app is intentionally not the main billing surface. Use mobile for review, comments, shared links, and quick updates. Use web or desktop for payment methods, invoices, seat changes, storage add-ons, AI credit purchase management, and plan changes.

What support needs for billing questions

For billing support, open Contact support and include the workspace name, your role, the plan shown in Billing, the invoice date or receipt number if visible, and the exact banner or error text. Do not send full card numbers, bank credentials, passwords, or private keys. If support needs payment details, they will use the secure billing flow rather than asking for sensitive information in chat.
