Buy storage add-ons
Add workspace storage and understand how recurring storage add-ons differ from AI credit packs.
Storage add-ons add recurring workspace file capacity
Storage add-ons increase how much ALLO-stored file data a workspace can keep. They are recurring billing add-ons attached to the workspace subscription. They are not one-time purchases, and they are not AI credits.
Use a storage add-on when the workspace plan is otherwise right but file usage has outgrown the included quota. If the workspace also needs a different plan, seat count, or billing interval, review Change a plan first.
Availability

Storage add-ons versus AI credit packs
| Purchase | What it adds | Billing behavior | Use it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Storage add-on | More workspace file storage capacity | Recurring subscription add-on | Uploads, previews, downloads, file-heavy canvases, old file access |
| AI credit pack | More workspace AI credits | One-time purchase | AI actions that spend credits |
| Plan upgrade | Broader plan capacity or features | Subscription change | Seats, included limits, paid features, billing interval |
If an AI action says the workspace has insufficient credits, storage will not help. Use Buy and manage AI credits. If a file upload or old file download is blocked by quota, AI credits will not help. Use this article or Fix storage limits.
What a storage purchase changes
A storage add-on increases the workspace file quota. It does not move files, delete files, change who can access files, add seats, add AI credits, or repair a failed payment. If the workspace was over quota, the practical goal is to bring stored usage below the new quota so uploads, previews, and downloads can recover.
Storage add-ons are recurring subscription items. If you add, change, or remove storage in the middle of a paid billing period, Billing may show an invoice preview with prorated adjustments before you confirm. Review the tier, price, billing interval, payment method, and renewal details in the checkout or Billing flow.
Those prorated adjustments are billing credits or charges, not AI credits. Removing a storage add-on does not automatically refund the previous charge. See Fair billing and proration for the full proration model and Refunds and duplicate charges for refund policy.
After the purchase, ALLO still needs to receive the billing update and recalculate the storage summary. If old previews or downloads were restricted, try again after the quota display shows the workspace is under quota. If usage is still being calculated, wait a few minutes and refresh before buying another tier or deleting more files.
Available storage tiers
Current workspace-level storage add-ons are offered as fixed capacity tiers. Use Pricing for the current public storage options, and use the storage picker in Billing as the checkout source of truth. The picker shows the current tier, price, billing interval, payment method, and any checkout restriction before you confirm.
Only one current workspace-level storage tier is active at a time. If you change tiers, Billing should show the selected tier rather than stacking several separate workspace-level tiers.
How ALLO chooses the recommended tier
When you open storage recovery, ALLO checks current workspace usage before showing the picker. Tiers that cannot cover current usage may be disabled, so do not use old screenshots or Help Center examples to choose capacity. Use the live Billing picker and Pricing as the current source of truth.
Choose a tier that covers current usage and leaves room for near-term uploads. If the team is already close to the next tier, buying the smallest possible tier can create another warning days later.
Buy a storage add-on
Open Workspace Settings → Billing, or go directly to /billing, and choose the storage action. If you arrived from a storage warning banner, use the banner action. Review current usage, quota, tier, price, billing interval, and payment method before confirming.
After purchase, return to ALLO and refresh the workspace if the banner remains. Storage accounting may take a few minutes to update. If old file previews or downloads were restricted because the workspace was over quota, try again after the quota update finishes.
Change or remove a storage add-on
Admins can change storage capacity when the workspace needs more or less room. A smaller tier may be unavailable if current usage is above that tier. Remove or reduce storage only after confirming the workspace can stay under the remaining quota.
Do not remove a storage add-on solely to reduce billing cost if the workspace is already near quota. That can immediately create upload failures or restrict older file access. Clean up files first, wait for usage to update, then reduce storage.
Free workspaces and custom contracts
Free workspace admins may need to upgrade before buying recurring storage add-ons. If the workspace wants to remain Free, reduce file usage instead.
Workspaces on custom contracts may show Contact Sales instead of checkout. Use Contact Sales for storage changes so capacity, invoices, and contract terms stay aligned.
Storage add-ons and failed payments
A failed payment can block new storage purchases or leave a storage invoice open. Fix the payment issue first, then retry the storage change. See Fix a payment issue.
If storage is urgent and payment recovery is blocked because the billing admin left, contact support with the workspace name, storage warning, and affected file links.
Troubleshooting storage add-ons
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Picker will not let you choose a smaller tier | Current usage is above that tier | Delete files and wait for usage to update, or choose a larger tier. |
| Purchase succeeded but warning remains | Usage or billing state has not refreshed yet | Wait a few minutes and refresh Billing. |
| You see Contact Sales | Workspace billing uses a custom contract | Use Contact Sales with the desired tier and urgency. |
| You cannot find storage controls | You are not an admin, the workspace is Free, or mobile is being used | Switch to web or desktop and ask an admin. |
| File access is still restricted after buying storage | Quota update may still be processing, or another limit exists | Refresh after a few minutes, then contact support with file links. |
When to contact support
Contact support when the storage picker shows usage you believe is wrong, a purchase succeeded but capacity did not increase after refresh, a workspace on a custom contract has urgent storage recovery needs, or old files remain restricted after the workspace is under quota.
