Troubleshoot dashboards

Check dashboard access, billing or admin-hidden states, missing widgets, empty dashboards, and archived dashboard routes.

Most dashboard issues are access, archive, or resource issues

When a dashboard fails, the dashboard itself is not always the broken part. A viewer may lack dashboard access, a dashboard may be archived, a widget may depend on restricted data, or a pinned resource may have its own permission problem.

Start by identifying whether the problem is the dashboard page, a widget, or a resource inside the dashboard.

Check the workspace and account

Make sure you are signed into the correct ALLO account and workspace. If you use several emails, compare the account email with the one that was invited or granted access.

If the dashboard exists for teammates but not for you, ask an owner to confirm dashboard sharing and workspace membership. If your workspace membership was deactivated, a dashboard link cannot reopen access by itself.

Use When you can't access work if access fails beyond dashboards.

Check active versus archived

If the dashboard is missing from the active list, check archived dashboards. Dashboards that tracked completed projects or recurring reviews are often archived intentionally. Restoring them can bring them back to the active list, but you should review old widgets and resources before treating the dashboard as current again.

See Archive and restore dashboards.

Check dashboard sharing

Dashboard sharing controls dashboard access and editing. A user with view access can open the dashboard but may not move widgets, edit resources, archive, or change sharing.

If the user needs to maintain the dashboard, grant edit or manage access. If they only need to review it, view access is enough. See Share a dashboard.

Check resources inside the dashboard

If the dashboard opens but a project, canvas, file, or external link does not, troubleshoot the resource. A dashboard can point to a restricted resource. The viewer needs access to both.

Resource problemBetter next step
Canvas no accessWhen you can't access work or Share a canvas
Canvas read-onlyWhen work is read-only
File will not preview or downloadPreview, open, and download files
File blocked by storageFix storage limits
External link asks for loginGrant access in the external system

Check widgets

If a widget is empty or stale, refresh the dashboard and check widget configuration. Filters, missing data, deleted resources, permission changes, and old dashboard state can all make a widget look broken.

If only one user sees the issue, compare permissions. If every viewer sees it, the widget configuration or underlying data is more likely the cause.

See Use dashboard widgets.

Check plan or admin-hidden state

Some workspace states can hide or disable dashboard actions. If the workspace has a billing issue, plan restriction, or admin-only configuration, non-admin users may see fewer controls.

Ask a workspace admin to check Billing and workspace settings. Use Open billing if a payment, seat, storage, or plan banner appears.

Refresh and retry

If a teammate just shared a dashboard, restored it, or changed resources, refresh the dashboard. The desktop app may need a tab refresh. The browser may need a page reload. Refresh helps stale state; it does not fix missing permission.

See When refresh helps and when it does not.

When to contact support

Contact support when dashboard access, widget state, or archive state looks wrong after an owner confirms permissions and everyone refreshes. Include workspace name, dashboard link, affected user email, expected permission, widget title or resource link, and screenshots of the error.
