Delete your account
Understand what happens when you permanently delete your ALLO account and how admin-owned workspaces are affected.
Account deletion is permanent
Delete your account only when you want to remove your ALLO account itself. This is different from signing out, leaving a workspace, removing one device, canceling a plan, or asking an admin to remove you from a project.
Account deletion is irreversible. Once the deletion completes, you should expect to lose access to your account, uploaded personal data tied to that account, shared access connected to that account, workspace memberships, active sessions, and personal integrations. If you created or administer workspaces, those workspaces can also be affected.
Use Leave or delete a workspace when you only need to leave one workspace. Use Manage active sessions when the real problem is a device that should be signed out.

Before you delete the account
Do not start with account deletion if you are trying to solve a smaller problem. Check these first:
| Situation | Better action |
|---|---|
| You used ALLO on a shared computer | Sign out of ALLO |
| A phone or laptop was lost | Manage active sessions |
| You no longer belong to one workspace | Leave or delete a workspace |
| A teammate should own your workspace or work | Transfer admin/member responsibility before deletion. |
| Billing is active | Review Open billing, invoices, seats, storage, and AI credits before deleting. |
| You need a copy of important work | Export or save the work before deletion where export is available. |
If you are the only admin of a workspace, account deletion can become destructive for that workspace. Add another trusted admin or delete the workspace intentionally from Workspace settings before deleting your account.
Open Delete account
Open your account menu, choose Profile Settings, open Security, then choose Delete account when the action is visible.
ALLO may ask you to confirm the account email exactly. Older or security-sensitive flows may also ask for password confirmation or a reason. Read the confirmation text carefully, it is there because the action cannot be undone.
If Delete account is missing, the account may be locked by policy, workspace state, or a product safety flag. Contact support instead of forcing the deletion through another route.
What happens to your account
When account deletion succeeds, ALLO signs out the account and starts removing account-owned records. You should expect the account to stop being usable for sign-in. Your profile, integrations, invites, workspace memberships, and personal account state can be removed as part of the deletion.
Historical references can still appear where removing them would rewrite other people's work incorrectly. For example, an old comment, export, notification, or audit-style record may still show that someone did an action in the past. That does not mean the deleted account can still sign in.
What happens to workspaces where you are a member
If you are a regular member, account deletion removes your membership from the workspace. The workspace itself can continue for the remaining members and admins. Shared work owned by the workspace stays with the workspace according to that workspace's ownership and permission rules.
If you are an external collaborator or guest on an item, account deletion removes the account identity that was using that access. The item itself remains with its workspace or owner.
What happens to workspaces where you are an admin
If you are an admin of a workspace, account deletion is more serious. ALLO attempts to clean up admin-owned workspace relationships during deletion:
- If the workspace is eligible for deletion, account deletion can delete workspaces you created or administer.
- If workspace deletion is blocked, for example because another admin or workspace state prevents a clean deletion, ALLO can remove your account from that workspace as part of account cleanup instead.
That means you should not use account deletion as a casual way to leave an admin workspace. Decide what should happen first:
| Desired result | Do this before deleting your account |
|---|---|
| The workspace should continue | Make another trusted member an admin and confirm billing/member ownership. |
| The workspace should be removed | Delete the workspace from Workspace settings intentionally. |
| You only want to leave the workspace | Use Leave or delete a workspace, or transfer admin responsibility first if you are the admin. |
| You are unsure who owns billing | Open Billing and contact support before deleting the account. |
Billing, seats, storage, and AI credits
Account deletion is not a clean substitute for billing administration. A workspace plan, seat count, storage add-on, or AI credit purchase belongs to the workspace billing state, not just to the profile screen. Before deleting an account that owns or administers paid workspace settings, open Billing and confirm what should happen to the plan.
If the workspace should stay active, transfer admin and billing responsibility before deleting the account. If the workspace should close, delete the workspace intentionally and keep records of invoices or receipts you need.
Recovery after deletion
Treat deletion as final. Support can explain what happened, but do not plan around recovering a deleted account or deleted workspace. Export important work, transfer ownership, and resolve billing before you confirm.
If you clicked Delete account by mistake but the final confirmation has not been submitted, cancel the dialog. If the deletion already completed, contact support with the account email, workspace name, approximate time, and what you expected to happen.
Troubleshooting account deletion
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Delete account is missing | Account deletion may be locked by policy or account state. | Contact support with your account email and workspace name. |
| The confirmation fails | The email, password, or required confirmation text may not match exactly. | Re-enter the value shown in the dialog. Do not use a different sign-in email. |
| You are an admin and deletion warns about workspace data | Admin account deletion can affect workspaces you administer. | Stop and transfer admin responsibility or delete the workspace intentionally first. |
| You only wanted to leave a workspace | Account deletion is too broad. | Cancel and use Leave or delete a workspace. |
| Billing is still unclear | Workspace billing needs a separate review. | Open Billing or contact support before deleting the account. |
