Use Starred from the sidebar

Keep frequent work within reach

Starred is your personal list of shortcuts in the Home sidebar. Use it for work you reopen regularly; use Recent for work you touched lately and Search when you remember a name or keyword.

A Starred shortcut does not grant permission to the underlying resource. Adding, moving, or removing one changes only your sidebar and does not move, rename, or delete the original work.

Add from a Starred section

The add picker is the dependable way to add any resource type shown there:

1. Expand the sidebar and find Starred.
2. Select + beside the section that should contain the shortcut.
3. Choose the resource type.
4. Search for and select the resource.
5. Select Add.

The shortcut appears inside that section. To make another section first, select + beside Starred, enter a name, and select Add. See Organize Starred for section controls and ordering.

Drag supported work into Starred

On a computer, you can drag these supported sources into a section in the expanded sidebar:

• project cards, rows, and Recent items on project Home
• canvas entries in a project's List, Kanban, or Calendar views, except the Calendar timeline
• OKR sessions, objectives, and key results

Drag the source item onto the destination section and release it. A second drop of the same resource does not create another shortcut; ALLO shows that it is already starred.

This gesture is intentionally unavailable on touch screens so scrolling remains reliable. Open the navigation drawer and use the add picker on mobile. When a computer sidebar shows only icons, selecting Starred opens a popover for browsing; expand the sidebar before dragging.

Open a shortcut

Select a Starred item to open its original resource.

If a shortcut no longer opens, the resource may have been deleted or your access may have changed. Search for the original work, then follow Can't access work when permission is the problem.

Remove a shortcut

Open the item's overflow menu, or right-click the item, and choose Unstar to remove the shortcut from Starred. The underlying resource and everyone else's access remain unchanged.

If drag and drop fails

For drag and drop, first check that you are using the full sidebar, a mouse, and a supported source listed above. Refresh ALLO once if the sidebar appears stale, then try the same action again.

If it still fails, contact support. Include your app or browser, operating system, the exact action you tried, and a screenshot or short recording.
