Today shows time-sensitive work without opening a full calendar
Use Today on Home when you want a quick view of work connected to the current day. It is useful before a standup, review meeting, handoff, or planning block because it surfaces date-linked context without making you open a full project schedule first.
Today is a summary, not the full calendar. If you need range views, source filters, Google Calendar context, or the workspace schedule, open Workspace Calendar. If the work belongs to one project, open the related project or Project Calendar.
Availability
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Available on | All plans |
| Available for | Web app, desktop app |
| Who can do it | Users with access to the linked work |
Where to find Today
Open Home, then find the Today area. Select an item to open the related work, such as a project canvas, canvas, or scheduled item.
Today is workspace-aware and access-aware. If you change workspaces or lose access to a linked item, the Today preview changes.
What Today is good for
| Need | Use Today for |
|---|---|
| Morning check-in | See what may need attention before the day fills up. |
| Meeting prep | Reopen work linked to today's schedule or project context. |
| Follow-up | Jump to the project, canvas, or related work behind an item. |
| Prioritization | Decide whether something needs action now or can wait. |
| Recovery | Find the work item connected to a meeting when you forgot the exact title. |
How to use Today
- Open Home at the start of the day.
- Check Today before opening deep project views.
- Open any item that needs preparation, review, or response.
- If the item is part of a project, use the project view for assignment, status, or scheduling details.
- If the item is connected to a conversation or request, use Inbox or Mentions to find the original prompt.
- If Today does not show the item you expected, search by title, meeting name, project name, or teammate in Global search.
Examples by role
| Role | How Today helps |
|---|---|
| Designer | Reopen the canvas tied to a review meeting before the meeting starts. |
| Project owner | Check which scheduled or date-linked work needs attention before updating status. |
| Manager | See whether today's work has enough context before asking the team for updates. |
| Reviewer | Jump from a time-sensitive item into the work that needs approval or feedback. |
| New teammate | Use Today with Recent and Mentions to understand what is happening without knowing every project name yet. |
Today works best paired with the other Home sections. Today tells you what may matter now, Recent tells you what you touched, Mentions tells you where someone asked for you, and Activity tells you what changed.
What Today does not replace
Today is designed for quick triage. It does not replace:
| Need | Use instead |
|---|---|
| The workspace schedule | Workspace Calendar. |
| Google events beside ALLO work | Use Google Calendar with Workspace Calendar. |
| A complete project schedule | Project Calendar. |
| Every canvas in a project | Project views. |
| All notifications and requests | Inbox. |
| Recent visual work | Recent or All canvases. |
| Work from a different date range | The relevant project or calendar surface. |
Permissions and visibility
Today only shows items your account can access. If a teammate sees an item and you do not, check that you are in the same workspace and that the underlying work is shared with you. A calendar-linked item can also appear empty if the linked work was deleted, moved, or restricted.
Today may also be empty for a perfectly healthy reason: there may be no date-linked work for the day. Use Recent, Activity, and Global search if you expected to find urgent work elsewhere.
When to leave Today
Leave Today when the work needs more than a quick preview. Open a project when you need status, ownership, due dates, sections, or canvas details. Open a canvas when you need visual context or comments. Open Inbox when the work is tied to a request or mention. Open search when you remember a title but not the schedule connection.
If Today is the only place you check, you will miss work that is important but not date-linked. It is a dashboard section, not a full project or calendar system.
Mistakes and recovery
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Today is empty | Confirm the workspace, then check Workspace Calendar or the related Project Calendar. |
| The wrong item appears | Open it and confirm the linked project, canvas, or schedule item. If it is outdated, update the source work rather than trying to fix the Home preview directly. |
| A meeting is visible but the work is not | Search by project, canvas, meeting title, or teammate. The meeting and the ALLO work may not be linked. |
| An item will not open | Check access with the owner or admin, then use Can't access work. |
| You need tomorrow or next week | Open the full project or calendar view. Today is only for the current day summary. |
Support questions
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Does Today show every canvas assigned to me? | No. It is a Home summary for date-linked or time-sensitive work. Use project views for project planning. |
| Why does a teammate see a Today item I do not see? | You may not have access to the linked work, or you may be in a different workspace. |
| Can I edit the schedule from Today? | Use Workspace Calendar or the related project for deeper schedule changes. |
| Why did an item disappear after I opened it? | The underlying work may have changed, been completed, moved, or become inaccessible. Check the project or search. |
