Turn a project plan into a working task board
Ask for a board with owners, priorities, due dates, and checklists, then try moving real example cards through the work.
Monday's launch review ends with six tasks, three owners, and a whiteboard full of arrows. By Wednesday, the question is simple: who is waiting for what? A task board gives each piece of work a place to move, with its owner and next action attached.
Use this approach for a small project that needs its own workflow: a product launch, a website refresh, or a workshop preparation board. Put the live app beside the plan and reference material on your canvas. The board handles changing status; the surrounding canvas keeps the reasons behind the work in view.
The short version
Describe your project's columns, owners, and card details. Try moving and editing cards in the example below. Create your own live app from the canvas, then refine its handoffs in the same conversation. Check access before bringing the team into the board.
Describe the work people will move
Start with columns and a few representative tasks. Include the details that help someone pick up a card without asking you to explain it again. An owner, due date, and short checklist usually earn their space before a long list of custom fields does.
Adapt this request to your project:
These are instructions for your own app, rather than a promise to reproduce the example below. For the creation steps and the rules for sharing and saved data, see Build a live app on your canvas.
Try the engineering board
The example is a product engineering board with editable task details, checklists, and cards you can drag between columns. Try these two actions:
- Open a card and check off one checklist item. Look at how the checklist progress gives the card more meaning than its column alone.
- Move a card to another column, then choose a priority filter. Notice which question the filter answers and which context stays inside the card.
Sample data. Reloading resets your changes.
This preview uses disposable sample data. Your changes affect only this demonstration and reset when it reloads. It is a place to test the workflow before creating your team's app.
Refine the handoff
After trying the board, choose one point where work gets stuck. Ask for that improvement in the same app conversation:
Before inviting the team, agree on what moves a card into Review and who moves it out. Test one task from creation to completion. Then check the app's data permissions using the live app guide, so the people responsible for updating the board have the access the workflow needs.
